The Edmund Burke Society is a movement dedicated to preserving and promoting the basic virtues of Western Christian Civilization — individual freedom; individual responsibility; a self-sacrificing love of country; and a willingness to work and pay one’s own way and not be a burden on others. These virtues have made our civilization great. Communism, socialism, and welfare-state liberalism are tearing it apart. The Edmund Burke Society stands for a regeneration of Western Civilization and firm action against all its enemies.

Fuddle Duddle!

We have previously acquainted our readers with the Executive of the international conspiracy known as the “Bilderberg Group”.  With huge finances at their disposal, the conspirators are endeavouring to usher us into an age of global totalitarian socialism.

Should one be surprised that Pierre-Elliott Trudeau, our first man in Ottawa, is also a member of this group?  According to William Hoffman, author of DAVID:  REPORT ON A ROCKEFELLER (Lyle Stuart, $7.99),

“David’s interest in international affairs became even more evident in 1954 when he became a charter member of the multi-nation conclave that named itself the Bilderberg.  Once each year, cloaked in such secrecy that even the press is excluded, the Bilderberg meets for a long weekend so members can discuss their views on the state of the world.  Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands is the chairman of the Bilderberg, and members have included such prestigious people as Hugh Gaitskell, Jean Monnet, Harold Wilson, Dean Acheson, Dean Rusk, Christian Herter, J. William Fulbright, Robert McNamara, George Ball, Henry Heinz II, Henry Ford III, William Moyers, Lester Pearson, Pierre Trudeau, Pierre Mendes-France, Jacob Javitz, and Stavros Niarchos.”

The next time the fuddle-duddle boy comes to your town soliciting your vote, ask him what he heard at the last session of the Bilderberg conspirators.  And don’t take a shrug for an answer!

Action Canada — Corporal Hellyer
Leads The Charge

From The Editor’s Notebook

Many sincere people who are fed up with the economic madness of the bureaucracy in Ottawa are going to be gulled in to follow Paul Hellyer’s Action Canada.  Hellyer quit the Liberal Party, saying, as STRAIGHT TALK! has for the past three years, and we here quote Hellyer:

It’s too rigid.  A handful of people — a small coterie of a dozen to 15 top civil servants — make too many decisions … Their views are rubber-stamped down the line by the Cabinet; there is no way the Cabinet can buck the Prime Minister and the “in” group.  Then, the party, in turn, endorses the Cabinet position.”

True and well-said.

However, let us remember that, while admirably advocating lower taxes, Hellyer speaks of price and wage controls.  As Defence Minister under Lester Pearson, his arrogance was legend as he “unified” the Canadian Armed Forces — a move, which to this day, has contributed to their low morale.  Hellyer offers a big, interfering government, despite his rhetoric.  He rightly notes that Trudeau is a socialist.  Why didn’t he expose him when it could have done some good, during the 1968 leadership race?  Hellyer may be well intentioned, or, as some editors feel, he may be using Action Canada to launch a political comeback.  Either way, Action Canada is a diversion.  We must work to elect good anti-communist M.P.’s.  To do this, we must support either the Social Credit Party or reliable, individual Progressive Conservatives!

Afterword

E.B.S. Editors were almost right on the money.  However, rather than a political vehicle to launch his own comeback, the new “Action Canada” party (in future to be named the Canadian Action Party) was a Red front and controlled opposition.

Like the “separatist” Parti Québécois — ordained to exist by a “secret committee” of Red “Liberals” at Power Corporation in 1967, including Jean Marchand, Maurice Sauvé and Pierre Elliott Trudeau, all in Soviet agent Lester Pearson’s Cabinet — Action Canada / the Canadian Action Party was and is controlled opposition and a Communist front.

The big dead give-away, if only the news would bother to cover these things, was the rise to the leadership of Hellyer’s CAP by well known Communist Connie Fogal (Constance Clara Fogal Rankin), recruited into the CAP by Paul Hellyer himself.

Prior to joining Hellyer’s little red CAP, Connie and her Stalinist husband the foul-mouthed Harry Rankin, ran Vancouver’s only Communist municipal party.

In 1996, after the failed 1995 Quebec referendum under the Communist PQ, Fogal and Rankin played host to their visiting brother Communist, Guy Bertrand, a Quebec City lawyer and co-founder with Communist René Lévesque of the Communist Parti Québécois (founded in 1968 on orders of the “secret committee at Power Corporation”).

I never tire of repeating that Harry Rankin’s funeral was a public social event for which Connie herself engaged the services of a choir to sing goodbye to Harry not with “O! Canada” but the sweet Red refrains of the Communist Internationale.

On February 2nd, 1996 at the auditorium of the John Oliver High School in Vancouver, B.C., under the euphemistic label “Citizens Concerned About Free Trade”, Communist Connie and Red Lying Harry co-hosted consummate “law” con, Guy Bertrand of Quebec, who delivered a joint lecture together with Red Tory David Orchard, entitled “Canada after the Quebec referendum — What now?”. 1

Canada after the Quebec referendum – What now?

Canada after the Quebec referendum – What now?

I call him Red Lying Harry because Rankin eventually boasted that he had obtained his license to practice law in British Columbia by lying to the Bar that he was not a Communist.

Of course, “free trade” is just another euphemistic label, meaning a step on the way to consolidating the North American Soviet Union.

As for the 1995 Quebec referendum, conducted under the auspices of Hellyer’s fellow Reds in the Communist PQ founded on the orders of “socialist” Pierre Trudeau and the crew of Red Liberals under Power Corp. control, that was a Communist, Soviet attack on all of Canada and North America.  The main referendum logo, after all, was a map of a borderless North America, not a map of the independent State of Quebec.  (Maybe the Americans would have liked a vote.)

A Friend Betrayed

Somebody up there must be chuckling sardonically at the grim comedy going on in Canada and the United States over the Red Chinese and their ping-pong invitations.  The politicians and the news media have come completely apart at the seams just because the red interlopers in Pekings have deigned to allow foreign teams to take a carefully guided tour of China.  The newspapers fly into paroxysms of hopefulness simply because old sphinx-face, Chou En-lai (or should it be lie) mutters a few insertable words about future contacts between the American and Chinese people.  International ping-pong tournaments go on all the time; yet, it is hard to find them even on the sports page.  Now, because there’s a tournament in red China, it’s all over the front page.

Nixon is relaxing trade restrictions with red China.  United Airlines, eager to do anything for money, will apply to Peking for landing rights in Canton, Shanghai, and Peking.  There are clear indications that the Nixon anti-communists (?) in Washington are willing to let the red usurpers into the U.N.  American diplomatic recognition of Pekings seems to be in the cards.  Much of this has been accelerated by the ping-pong mania, which is largely a press creation.  Meanwhile, look whom we’ve stabbed in the back!  The legitimate government of China is on the island of Taiwan.  Taiwan has proved itself a reliable ally.  These brave, industrious little men have built a poverty-stricken island into a showpiece of prosperity and free enterperise in Asia.  Therefore, it makes good sense to embrace our avowed enemy (red China); to disown our ally, Taiwan; and to allow known Chicom sympathizers to manage our domestic news on China.  At least, this makes sense to the leftists in Ottawa and Washington.

Professor Paul Lin of McGill University, the former English language secretary to Chou En-lai, and an important Trudeau confidante and go-between in the early stages of Canada’s negotiations to recognize red China, has been cranking our pro-Peking articles for both the Toronto GLOBE AND MAIL and the NEW YORK TIMES.  The national news desk of C.T.V. is out of favour with the Chinese communists, especially as it is headed by Tom Gould, whose wife is South Vietnamese.  Thus, to get a correspondent into China, they had to offer the reds Peter Stursburg, an outsider and import from an Ottawa station.  Stursburg is a known knee-jerk leftist.  Accompanying him is none other than Chester Ronning, a pro-Peking apologist from way back.  The T.V. reports by the C.B.C.’s Schlesinger are models of uncritical adulation of red China.  The sometimes anti-communist TORONTO TELEGRAM has been denied permission to post a correspondent in Peking.  Yes, our “news” from China will be very well managed, indeed!

Trudeau in London:

Reflections on Communism

On the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit to London for the Conference of Commonwealth Prime Ministers, the press had itself its usual ball reporting on the “impact” of our national “swinger” on the British public.  It also reported on the more serious confrontation of Pierre-Elliott Trudeau (“We do have to put up with some bums in the Liberal Party”) with a few hundred Canadian students studying in the United Kingdom.  It was on this occasion that he was asked a direct question re Marxism.  According to the transcript published in the DAILY STAR (January 13), it went something like this:

“QUESTIONER:  What society would you choose to make Canada?  Socialist or capitalist?

TRUDEAU:  Labour Party Socialist, or Cuban Socialism, or Chinese Socialism — Socialism from each according to his means?

QUESTIONER:  From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.  Would you support that?

TRUDEAU:  Yes, in theory, but not entirely in practice … (Editor’s Note:  the TELEGRAM’S Peter Thomson deleted the key word “entirely” from his report.)

QUESTIONER:  Would you support Communism?  Would you consider that ideal?

TRUDEAU:  Yes, I would, in a better world.  I think that small societies, religious societies, Kibbutzim, people living in primitive societies, can work these things out … I do not think it is workable under present circumstances … But if you ask me if it is an ideal, a beacon, something which the world should have, yes, I think it is … but if we were only saints, we would have this society, but we ain’t” (sic).

MYTH v. REALITY

The official theory of the Soviet dictatorship is that the absolute despotism of the Communist Party (“dictatorship of the proletariat”) represents the Socialist “stage” which will usher in the utopian paradise (“Communism”) when men are “perfect” and the government (“the state”) will “wither away”, because it will no longer be needed.  This is Marxist mythology, not the Red reality.  Trudeau’s interlocutor gave him an out when he settled, at Trudeau’s prompting, be it noted, for this spurious definition of Marxism (“from each according …” etc.), otherwise what began as a direct question might have put old Prussian Pierre on the spot.

What is the reality of Marxism?  Lenin put it squarely on the line back in 1920 when he said that “Soviet Socialist democracy is in no way contradictory to one-man rule and dictatorship … a dictator sometimes fulfils the will of a class.”  So did Mao Tse-tung in 1930 when he wrote, “Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.”

As for those fantasies about a “Communist” utopia with the state withering away, and all contributing according to his means, etc., it would be well for us to remember that “The language of Communism … is not so much a means of explaining to an unbeliever what Communism means, but an armory of weapons and tools intended to produce support or dissolve opposition to communist policies on the part of people either hostile or indifferent to them.  The meaning of a communist word is not what you think it says, but what effect it is intended to produce” (Cf. Harry Hadgkinson, DOUBLETALK, THE LANGUAGE OF COMMUNISM, London, 1955).

The Rev. Bruce Vawter, C.M., once wrote, “There is a point beyond which cant and hypocrisy cease to disgust, and merely fascinate.”  We are fascinated.
